SERVICES SECTOR ‘DRIVING GROWTH’

MANAMA: Bahrain’s services sector is a major contributor to its gross domestic product, Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Hassan Fakhro said yesterday.

He expressed confidence that the sector would achieve more sustainable growth by virtue of the efforts of the public and private sectors in developing human resources, and the quality of services provided in diverse fields.

Dr Fakhro was speaking as he opened the Disney Model Forum on Leadership, Productivity and Creativity in the Services Sector, which he patronised.

“Productivity and creativity are the basis of improving the standards of services,” he said.

The minister praised Tamkeen’s continuous support for all activities, forums and exhibitions hosted in the kingdom, highlighting its backing for the eighth edition of Invest in Bahrain Forum 2013.

“Bahrain’s public and private sectors would continue to exert such efforts in order to boost our national economy,” Dr Fakhro said.

He said Bahrain has become a major destination in the Gulf to host specialised forums and workshops that promote sustainable development, in line with the Economic Vision 2030.

Leaders Institute for Training and Development chief executive Ghalib Al Oraibi stressed the importance of developing human resources and honing the skills of public and private sector employees to keep pace with the international trends.

The forum was presented by American expert on customer service, leadership and global competitiveness Doug Lipp.

More than 700 participants from Bahrain and GCC countries attended the event.
